REPORT ON ENHANCING RESEARCH SKILLS
An insightful and academically enriching Guest lecture on “Research Guidance and Nanoparticles” was successfully conducted by Department of Physics, at St. Joseph’s College for Women (A), Visakhapatnam, with Dr. Hyma from Visakha Women’s College, Visakhapatnam serving as the resource person. The session was thoughtfully designed to provide students with clarity and direction regarding research opportunities and emerging scientific fields.During the first part of the lecture, Dr. Hyma offered comprehensive guidance on future research pathways. She explained the importance of research aptitude and encouraged students to actively consider careers in research and higher education. Detailed information was shared about various competitive examinations, national and international research fellowships, postgraduate and doctoral programs, and the wide range of career prospects available in universities, research institutions, laboratories, and industries. Her discussion helped students understand how to plan their academic journey systematically and make informed career choices.Later She focused on Nanoparticles, an important and rapidly advancing area of modern science. Dr. Hyma elaborated on the fundamental concepts of nanoscience, the unique properties of nanoparticles, and their significance in scientific research. She explained different methods of nanoparticles preparation and highlighted their extensive applications in fields such as medicine, electronics, environmental science, energy, and materials science. The session also emphasized the vast scope for research and innovation in nanotechnology, inspiring students to explore this interdisciplinary field.Overall, the workshop was highly informative, motivating, and future- oriented. It broadened the students’ understanding of research opportunities and emerging scientific domains, while instilling confidence and enthusiasm to pursue research-oriented careers. The session proved to be a valuable learning experience, encouraging students to explore new horizons in science and technology with a research-driven mindset.
REPORT ON BUILDING BUSINESS SKILLS
The inspiring session by Mrs. Farzana Begum, an esteemed alumna, successfully imbibed entrepreneurial skills in students through her inspiring journey and insights shared during the session. She demonstrated key entrepreneurial qualities such as resilience, innovation, and leadership by transforming personal adversity into a meaningful business venture. Students were encouraged to view challenges as opportunities for growth and innovation, highlighting how she founded “Fit with Fab,” a unique all- women fitness studio that addresses a specific community need in Visakhapatnam. Experience of building a business from scratch, starting with her vision, dealing with setbacks, and creating a supportive environment for women have been shared through practical lessons in business planning, customer focus, and social entrepreneurship. Emphasis on creating a safe, empowering space reflecting ability to identify market gaps and offer tailored solutions, a critical entrepreneurial skill are informed. Moreover, she inspired students to cultivate self-discipline and purpose-driven work ethics, which are essential for successful entrepreneurship. Her role as a nutrition and wellness coach combined with functional strength training portrayed how combining diverse skills and knowledge can lead to innovative business models. Talk also motivated students to adopt servant leadership by using their strengths to uplift communities, blending entrepreneurship with social impact. Thus, the session helped students develop entrepreneurial thinking by showing how vision, perseverance, creativity, and social concern can culminate in a successful and meaningful venture.
REPORT ON CAREER GUIDANCE
A guest lecture by Dr. Ampolu Siva Madhusudanacharyulu ,Professor & Deputy Head, Department of Physics, Raghu Engineering College, Dakamarri, Visakhapatnam, was organized on 29 November 2025 for the senior Intermediate students of St. Joseph College for Women (A), Visakhapatnam. The lecture was attended by more than 100 senior Intermediate students, along with faculty members from the Department of Physics. Topic of the Lecture is on “Job Opportunities in Space-Based Industries with Physics as a Specialization”Dr. A.S. Madhusudanacharyulu delivered an insightful session on the wide range of career opportunities available for students who pursue Physics as their major, specifically in the rapidly growing space-based sectors in India. The speaker explained the recruitment pathways and roles for physics graduates in leading national organizations such as ISRO, NRSC, SAC, VSSC, PRL, IIRS, Regional Remote Sensing Centers . He emphasized how strong foundational knowledge in Physics supports careers in satellite technology, payload development, remote sensing, atmospheric science, materials research, and instrumentation.
